Every year, through April and May, Yakushima Ohzora High School students and volunteers come to Yakushima Senvus Village to experience picking “Shincha”, the first tea of the season, by hand.
毎年４月から５月にかけて、屋久島おおぞら高等学校の生徒たちやボランティアが、屋久島センバスビレッジで、その年の最初のお茶「新茶」の手摘み体験を行います。
The green tea grown on Yakushima Senvus Village is called Yutaka Midori.
屋久島センバスビレッジで栽培されている緑茶は、「ゆたかみどり」という品種で、
Yutaka Midori is a sweet smelling cultivar mostly grown on Kagoshima Prefecture.
鹿児島県を中心に栽培されており、甘い香りが特徴です
Blessed with a mild climate, Yakushima Island harvest its tea ahead of other producing centers in Japan. ^^
