Volunteers from last year

Around this time last year, we were receiving four new volunteers:

Helen and Alexandre from France, Charlotte from England, and Ilia from Ukraine.

去年の今頃、フランスからエレンとアレクサンダー、イギリスからシャーロット、ウクライナからイリアという4人の新しいボランティアを受け入れました。

During their stay, they helped us harvest and roast tea, take care of the Scent garden, and also helped with the maintenance of the “100 topiary”, among other tasks. They also participated in the rice paddy relay with the students of Yakushima Ohzora High School.

4人は滞在中、お茶の収穫や「釜炒り茶」の加工、「香りの庭」の手入れ、「セレブレーション100」のモニュメントのメンテナンス等を手伝ってくれました。また、屋久島おおぞら高等学校の生徒達と一緒に、お米づくりの作業をリレーのバトンのようにつないでいく、「リレー水田」にも参加しました。
