Volunteers and “Kamairicha kakou”
About 3 years ago, we were welcoming Ilenia from Italy and Jade from France as volunteers at Yakushima Senvus Village.
3年ほど前、イタリアから来たイレニアと、フランスから来たジャッドを、ボランティアとして「屋久島センバスビレッジ」に迎えました。
They visited just in time for tea harvest season, so they had the chance to help us picking tea leaves and then kettle-roasting them for the next production stage through a technique mostly used in Kyushu called “Kamairicha kakou”.
ちょうどお茶の収穫の時期に来てくれたので、九州地方で多く作られている「釜炒り茶」に加工するために、茶葉を摘んで釜で煎る作業を手伝ってくれました。
We have kept in touch with them during the years, and they’ve become really good at Japanese, so we hope to be able to meet them again someday!
彼女たちとは何年も連絡を取り合っていて、日本語もすごく上手になっているので、
いつかまた会えることを願っています！
