Thanks to Yakushima’s unique weather, another foreign plant that you can find at Yakushima Senvus Village is the Tea Tree, native to Australia.
屋久島特有の気候のおかげで、屋久島センバスビレッジには他にも海外の植物、オーストラリアの「ティーツリー」があります。
Indigenous people of Australia have been using the tea tree as traditional medicine from long ago; and nowadays, it is mostly known for the essential oil extracted from its leaves, used in aromatherapy.
オーストラリアの先住民族アボリジニは、ティーツリーを古くから伝統的な薬として使用してきました。現在では、ティーツリーの葉から抽出したエッセンシャルオイルが、アロマセラピーに使われていることでよく知られています。
Every year, around the end of May, Tea tree’s white flowers bloom, changing slightly Yakushima Senvus Village’s scenery.
毎年5月末ごろになるとティーツリーの白い花が咲き、屋久島センバスビレッジの景色をほんのりと変えていきます。
