Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine

Another popular touristic spot in Yakushima is the Shiratani Unsuikyo ravine.

屋久島の人気観光スポットのひとつに、「白谷雲水峡」があります。

Shiratani Unsuikyo ravine is a moss-covered forest located around 600-1100mts above sea level, famous for having served as an inspiration for the setting of Studio Ghibli’s movie “Princess Mononoke”.

「白谷雲水峡」は、標高600〜1,100ｍにある苔むした森で、「スタジオジブリ」の映画「もののけ姫」の舞台のモデルになったことで有名です。

The ravine has a lot of trails with different levels of difficulty, which can take from 1 to 5 hours.

Along the trails, besides all kinds of evergreen trees, you can also find ancient cedar trees.

渓谷を歩くコースには、1時間前後から5時間前後まで、難易度の異なる多くのコースがあります。

登山道沿いには、あらゆる種類の常緑樹のほか、古代の屋久杉も見られます。

Surrounded by giant trees, plants that grow from moss-covered rocks and the sound of the water flowing through the streams; you can feel the life of the forest and refill yourself with energy.

巨木や、苔に覆われた岩から育つ植物、そして川を流れる水の音に囲まれ, 森の生命を感じ、元気を取り戻すことができます。
