Memories from last year.
This time is about the volunteer who came to Yakushima
at the same time last year.
They came from Czech Republic and the U.K.
It was the time when “Ancient Rice” was harvested.
They also conducted a “Threshing” to remove the unhulled rice from the heads of rice plants dried in the sun.
It’s a traditional method.
They were able to feel the wisdom and skills that Japanese predecessors left behind.
今回は、去年来てくれたボランティアについてです。
彼女たちは、チェコとイギリスから来てくれました。
丁度来た時、「古代米」の収穫時期でした。
天日干しして乾燥させた稲の穂先から籾を落とす
「脱穀」作業も行ってもらいました。
伝統的な手法です。
彼女たちに、日本の先人が残してくれた知恵や技術を
感じてもらえました。
