A New Season Begins｜新しい季節のはじまり

新しい一年が始まりました。
A new year has begun.

年末年始は、畑で「ポンカン」の収穫をしました。
Over the year-end and New Year holidays, we harvested ponkan oranges in the fields.

冬の屋久島は、柑橘が美味しい季節。
Winter in Yakushima is the season when citrus fruits taste their best.

島ではポンカンをはじめ、さまざまな柑橘を目にする機会があり、香りや味の違いから季節の移ろいを感じます。
On the island, you can find many kinds of citrus fruits, including ponkan, and their different aromas and flavors gently tell us how the seasons are changing.

屋久島でいちばん有名な柑橘は「タンカン」ですが、その旬はもう少し先。
The most famous citrus fruit on Yakushima is tankan, but its peak season is still a little way off.

太陽をたっぷり浴びて、タンカンも美味しそうに色づいてきました。
Bathed in plenty of sunshine, the tankan oranges are beginning to turn a rich, delicious color.

こうして自然のリズムを感じながら、今年も新しい一年が静かに動きはじめています。
And so, feeling the rhythm of nature, a new year is quietly beginning once again.
