Rice sorting.
At Yakushima Senvus Village, students from Yakushima Ohzora High School hold “Relay paddy field” as one of their agricultural experiences.
This is a traditional relay of ancient rice cultivation, with the participation of volunteers from the company. After harvesting and threshing rice, volunteers from Hong Kong helped to sort out and clean this year’s “Black rice” by hand for dedication.
This is one of the last steps before dedicating new rice to a shrine.
We were filled with gratitude for making rice with everyone’s efforts for a year.
屋久島センバスビレッジでは、屋久島おおぞら高等学校の生徒が、農業体験の1つとして「リレー水田」を行っています。
これは、伝統的なやり方で古代米を栽培する作業をリレーのようにつないでいくもので、ワーカウェイのボランティアスタッフにも参加してもらっています。
香港から来たボランティアスタッフは、稲刈りと脱穀が終わった後、奉納に備えて、今年の「黒米」を選別して手作業できれいにするのを手伝ってくれました。
この作業は、新米を神社に奉納する前の、最後のステップの1つです。
1年間のみんなの努力でお米ができたことに、感謝の気持ちでいっぱいになりました。
