Plum trees
We have already presented different of trees in Yakushima Senvus Village.
This time, let me introduce you to the plum tree.
In Japan, there are trees with different flowers depending on the season, like the “Sakura”(Japanese cherry trees)
in spring, “Momiji”(maple trees) in autumn, and “Ume”(plum trees) in winter.
“Ume” blossom around Feburary. The flowers have colors ranging from white to bring pink,
and they emanate a very sweet smell.
The two new volunteers, one from England and the other from Belgium, are enjoying “Ume” season, admiring the burgeons and flowers.
今までに、屋久島センバスビレッジにある様々な種類の木を紹介してきました。
今回は、「梅」を紹介したいと思います。
日本には、その季節を象徴するような木がいくつかあります。
春の「桜」、秋の「もみじ（楓）」、冬の「梅」などです。
「梅」の花は、2月くらいに咲きます。花の色は白から明るいピンクまであり、とても甘い香りがします。
イギリスとベルギーから来た、2人の新しいボランティアスタッフは、「梅」の蕾と花を眺めて、梅の季節を楽しんでいます。
