ギョボクとブッソウゲ Three-leaved caper and Chinese hibiscus

A haven for “a butterfly that brings happiness”

Hebomoia glaucippe (the great orange tip) may be compared to an elegant white kimono with orange sleeves.
One of the largest species in the white butterfly family (adults can be 10 centimeters wide wing-to-wing), the great orange tip is also known as “a butterfly that brings happiness.”
Here at Yakushima Senvus Village, we have created breeding areas for the butterfly, with Chinese hibiscus for them to feed on and three-leaved caper trees for them to lay eggs on.
We look forward to admiring a thriving community of the white butterfly in the village in the near future.
