Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine

Another popular touristic spot in Yakushima is the Shiratani Unsuikyo ravine.

Shiratani Unsuikyo ravine is a moss-covered forest located around 600-1100mts above sea level, famous for having served as an inspiration for the setting of Studio Ghibli's movie "Princess Mononoke".

The ravine has a lot of trails with different levels of difficulty, which can take from 1 to 5 hours.
Along the trails, besides all kinds of evergreen trees, you can also find ancient cedar trees.
